Why Is Online College So Popular?
Experts have long wondered why so many people were enrolling at online colleges, but the answer is rather complex. Of course, online universities offers students unparalleled flexibility but it also eliminates much of the bureaucracy that goes on in traditional schools. When students can better focus on their courses, they often perform better as a result. When compared to the average tuition of a traditional school, distance learning students can get a comparable education for a much better rate at an online school. At lastly, most students just find that online learning works. Video lessons, online resource tools and digital libraries allow students to learn that is convenient to them. Struggling to wake up for a class that starts at 7 a.m. often has less to do with a student being lazy than it does with their work schedule. Since traditional universities refuse to acknowledge that more expensive tuition means that most students have to work, online colleges have begun to serve a large amount of transfer students.
A distance education can literally take place at any time of day or night. Students enrolled at online schools have the option of attending classes at the same time each week, or catching up with their studies when they have the opportunity. They also have the option to take a few weeks off and get right back into their coursework without fear of losing credits or tuition money. Traditional colleges are much more strict about attendance, often causing students to forfeit the money they paid in fees if they don’t have a written doctor’s note. The stress of college alone is enough to make some students want to quit within their first semester, but the helpful employees of online colleges are quick to spot a troubled student and offer him or her advice that will keep them enrolled.
